Investing in the Future of Sorting and Processing
In a world of constant and accelerating change, it can be challenging to keep up with the opportunities and potential threats that new regulation standards bring. We continue to invest significant resources on research and development to ensure that our solutions remain one step ahead.
We have invested in the development of our state-of-the-art in-house laboratories, which work in close cooperation with national and international researchers, scientists, universities and PhD students to identify new developments and insights that have the potential to transform the whole industry tomorrow.
This could come from advancements in material sciences, nanotechnology, next generation optics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and countless other industry related technologies.
Our Laboratories
Our laboratories are equipped with cutting-edge technology including Atomic Force Microscopes (AFM), Raman spectroscopy equipment, UV laser systems, and advanced microscope setups for thorough analysis and innovation.
Through close collaboration with academic institutions and industry partners, we identify emerging trends and develop solutions that address the challenges of tomorrow.
Innovation Driven by Research
Newtec is committed to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in sorting and processing technology. Our R&D efforts focus on developing innovative solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and sustainability across the food industry.
We work actively within hyperspectral imaging, artificial intelligence, and advanced vision systems to create intelligent solutions that adapt to your specific needs.
Our team of researchers and engineers brings together expertise from diverse fields including physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science to develop groundbreaking technologies.

Our Capabilities
- All-in-one camera with vision system and exchangeable sensor head
- All camera types are supported by the same platform
- Tailored cameras and algorithms for specific and future needs
Pioneering Since 1997
Did you know that in 1997 Newtec constructed the first AI-based grading machine for potatoes before:
- WiFi was introduced
- Facebook.com was registered
- Netflix was established
- Operating systems were still installed from floppy disks
- Intel launched their Pentium II
- A computer beat a reigning world chess champion under tournament conditions?
Current Collaborations
We actively partner with universities, research institutions, and cultural heritage organizations across Europe to push the boundaries of what's possible.
A cross-border research project supported by the European Regional Development Fund Interreg Deutschland-Danmark, connecting Denmark and Germany to explore cultural heritage using hyperspectral imaging and spectroscopy. Newtec Engineering provides specialized hyperspectral camera technology.
